OVERVIEW
Our scanners were born from a need to support our own trading and investment style. At Captain, we leverage our entire platform to take positions in our portfolio, called Capfolio, which we share openly and transparently with the world. In Capfolio, we take both long-term core investment positions in addition to trading around those core positions. To identify tradable positions, we look for tradeable chart setups that match our risk/reward profile.
As you probably know, finding chart setups is a laborious process. You’re sifting through Twitter feeds or leveraging complicated scanning tools with 100 options/filters. It’s seriously a waste of time and we believe should be easier. So when we set out to offer a simple set of scanners that are backed by math and algorithms, Captain Scanners was born.

Volume and Sentiment Setups
WHY?
Ever heard the phrase “Follow the money”? Money means volume and it’s one of the simplest things to follow. While other strategies may use complicated techniques to follow the money, it is undeniable that trade volume is one that institutions cannot hide or mask.
WHAT TO USE IT FOR?
Uncovers stocks that have made, and may continue to make, a measurable move on meaningful sentiment and volume.
HOW TO USE IT?
Best used as a market prep before the next trading day. Look for symbols in the list that have upward price movement on massive volume with Bullish Captain sentiment.
Price Strength
WHY?
When prices move up or down in a strong manner, there are many reasons. It could be news, macro/microeconomic factors, earnings, social hysteria, <insert thousands of other reasons>. The point is, when it moves, you’ll want to look for momentum opportunities to ride the wave.
WHAT TO USE IT FOR?
Ideal for day and momentum traders that like to be in and out or scalp on a shorter timeframe.
HOW TO USE IT?
When you see an interesting symbol, make sure to pull up the SuperFeed view and scroll through what other analysts are saying or doing with the chart. There are many intraday setups like R2G, 2B reversal etc that you might want to take.
Chartist Radar
WHY?
Captain analyzes only the best expert chartists on social media and surfaces what stocks are trending in real-time. We exclude the masses of noisy, completely amateur-hour chartists.
WHAT TO USE IT FOR?
Can be used by any style of trader since chartists are sharing setups in real-time. This algorithm has its finger on the pulse of stock popularity across social media.
HOW TO USE IT?
Make sure to explore the Other Takes or Superfeed sections for each symbol to understand why it’s trending. Then take a position accordingly if the setup matches your plan and risk/reward.
SCANNER PERFORMANCE
Every night Team Captain shares our setups on Twitter (Follow us if you haven’t!) that we think people should pay attention to. On the Trends page, we have a Scanner Performance section that shows you how those shares are performing since we put them out there. Also, note that we are 100% transparent in positions we take and we will tell you in each post if we have a position.
