 Supercharge Captain with Personal Watchlists

While analyzing the whole global conversation we track is great to get the overall market mood, sometimes you want to zero in on just the stocks or analysts you care about the most. Watchlists on Captain let you filter down the entire site to only the stocks or analysts you want to focus on, further cutting through the noise and giving you just the signals you’re looking for.

If you haven’t already, before walking through the below, create at least one stock watchlist (expedite by pasting tickers into the Bulk Upload box) and optionally, an analyst watchlist as well. Now that you have a watchlist, let’s go over what you can do with it.

  1. From your watchlist dashboard the first thing you’ll want to do is turn ON Daily Rundown emails for your stock watchlists. Every trading day, a little after market close, you’ll get an email with price, volume, news, unusual activity, insider / congressional trading and more, focused entirely on your stock watchlist, and conveniently summarized in your inbox. Perfect for days when you didn’t have time to follow the market.

  2. Want to access that info on your own schedule? View the always-up-to-date web version of your Daily Rundown by clicking on the lightning bolt next to your watchlist. There are also shortcuts to view the trends page and other Captain pages, filtered by your watchlist.

  3. If you have any analyst watchlists scroll down to the bottom of your watchlist dashboard and you’ll see the option to turn on Trending Email Alerts. If this is on, you’ll get 3x daily emails with what stocks are trending in commentary from only the analysts in your watchlist.

  4. Now let’s filter the SuperFeed (which we’ll talk more in depth about in the future) by your watchlist. On the SuperFeed page, click on the dropdown labeled “Filters” and pick out one of your watchlists (will be at the top of the options list). Now you’ll only see posts in the feed that mention stocks in your list (if you picked a stock watchlist ) or that are from analysts in your list (if you picked an analyst watchlist).

  5. You can do a similar filter on most other Captain pages including Trends (click on “Show Filters” in upper right) and our Real-time News (we’ll cover both of these sections more specifically in the near future).

Next Steps

  1. Create a stock watchlist for your current portfolio and turn on Daily Rundown emails to stay on top of what’s happening with your positions.

  2. Trying to follow a big event or day trading? Bring up the Real-time News widget and filter by your stock watchlist to stay on top of things.

  3. Want to see what analysts have been saying about a list of stocks? Filter the SuperFeed by your watchlist (or just enter a single ticker) and scroll down to go back in time and follow the conversation. Click on any cashtag (like $TSLA) in the posts to bring up details about that stock.
